About

The Rubber Duck Caving Club is a small but active club based in Bredbury, Stockport. We welcome members of all abilities and from all areas.

History

The Rubber Duck Caving Club was established in 1975 under the name of Crown Caving and Potholing Club as it originated from the late Crown Wallpaper social club in Bredbury. We changed the name when we started meeting in one of our local pubs and took the landlord on a trip, who insisted on taking a rubber duck with him and to have his photo taken swimming in the sump at the bottom of the cave with it to prove that he had been. Anyway, it has got us recognition nation wide ever since. We have always been one of the more active small caving clubs, with trips to Derbyshire, Yorkshire, North & South Wales, The Mendips, Ireland and the beautiful Vercors region of Southern France. Individual members have also been caving to other foreign areas including Spain and New Zealand.

Meetings

We hold meetings on the second Friday of each month at 8.00pm in Bredbury Conservative Club, George Lane, Bredbury, Stockport, SK6 1AS. Press the buzzer at the front door and someone will let you in. The financial year runs from the AGM which is held in mid November.
